Coordinator's Message

Oguzhan Yilmaz

Dear parents and students,

Term 2 has been another successful term and indeed a tiring one for Ibrahim Dellal Campus. We had a very good start to the term with lots of extracurricular activities and special events. In the last few weeks of school, our students and teachers have been really busy with exam preparations. Congratulations to all of our students who have completed semester exams and a big thank you to our teachers who have supported our students right through this stressful period.

I would like to remind parents to please respond to online permission slips. As most of you are aware, important documents pertaining to excursions, incursions or any event is now sent as a link to parents' mobile phones. Whether you grant permission or not for your child, it is very important that you respond to official school documents/letters.

Unfortunately, lateness is still a continuing issue for some of our students. I would like to remind everyone that classes begin at 9:00am sharp every day. It is the responsibility of the parents to make sure their child is coming to school on time. Coming late to school on a regular basis has a negative effect on student's learning. Lateness also creates disruptions to the class and interferes with other students' learning time. Students who are late to class in the morning more than 3 times fortnightly will be issued an official warning on SEQTA by the relevant coordinators. Please encourage your children to be in class on time.

It is also important to remind everyone that during cooler months in Terms 2 and 3, students must wear their vest/ jumper and the school blazer in the first three periods. If they are still feeling cold then they are allowed to wear a white skivvy under their Sirius College shirt. Students are not allowed to wear their Sirius College sports hoodie jackets under their blazers. These rules are applicable to all excursions; otherwise students will not be allowed to go on excursions. In cases where a student is out of uniform e.g. if they come to school with a different jacket, they must bring a signed letter from their parent/guardian explaining their reason. It is only with this letter that the school office will issue students a uniform pass. Relevant coordinators will follow up students who continue to be out of uniform and there will be consequences given to those students at the coordinator's discretion. Students wearing different uniform will have their items confiscated. It is the duty of the parent to collect their child's belongings from the relevant coordinator.

At Sirius College we have a five step warning system, where students who receive five or more warnings over a two-week period are issued a Rollover Afterschool Detention (ASD). Rollover ASD is logged into SEQTA as 0 points, any other Afterschool Detention is -10 points on our system. Please log into SEQTA to gain a greater understanding about your child's consequence and behaviour level. If you are having difficulties logging into SEQTA please report to the school office.

I wish everyone a great holiday and wish that everyone returns safe and sound for next term!

Kind Regards,
Oguzhan Yilmaz
